The Invitations

You can send out party invitations with the summer theme of flamingos. These invites will create anticipation for your summer birthday event.

Make it clear on the invites if there will be a pool, sprinkler, or water slide, so guests can bring swimwear and towels.

The weather may still be cold and wet but summer is ahead. If one of your kids has a summer birthday, start making plans now. The better prepared you are, the more fun your kids are going to have! A flamingo summer birthday theme can be fun, especially when it’s not in the budget to take the family to sunny Florida.

Decoration Tutorials

A summer party should naturally take place in the backyard. If you don’t already have wading pools, you can purchase them for fairly cheap at most stores. Consider setting one up just for the adults too, so they have somewhere to cool down their feet.

You can also purchase inflatable beach balls and pool toys, and scatter them around the yard. If you have any outdoor lights or lanterns, set them aside so you can decorate the yard on the first warm day of the year.

Flamingoes are also an essential decoration, and can often be found in the garden sections of most dollar stores or hardware stores.

Games/Activities

Besides setting up a wading pool you’ll want to have some fun events for the kids. Consider setting up just one pool with an assortment of plastic balls, rather than water. You can buy small plastic balls in bulk at most toy stores. Youngsters can be placed inside to have fun playing with all the balls.

For older kids you can set up another pool with a fishing game. Kids will have to use a fishing rod (stick with a hook on the end) to try and get the fish out of the pool. Each fish will have a number on it that will correspond to a prize on the prize table.

The Food

You can have an assortment of finger foods, and use flamingo food picks to hold the sandwiches or appetizers together. A big birthday cake can have a flamingo iced onto it. If you’d prefer to make cupcakes, decorate them with bright pink icing, and add a flamingo pick on top.

If you can’t find flamingo picks, you can make your own out of flamingo stickers and toothpicks, or even print out flamingos onto paper and cut and glue them.

Party Favors

Party favors and candy can be tossed into a beach bag for each of the kids.

Consider buying condensed towels that you place into water and that expand into full size.

Sending Out Thank Yous

Thank you notes should match the party invitations. That way parents can keep them as memorabilia. It will also remind them of which party the thank you is coming from, as most kids attend many parties throughout the year.

Flamingoes will add a bright and colorful aspect to your child’s summer birthday party.
